A Friend

by Monique Eniero

Sometimes if
The amount of loneliness
In your life is big,
All you need is a dog
To share your thoughts with.
You may not understand them
When they try to speak;
But one thing's for sure,
Their love for you was never poor.
Even if they're old and bare,
They'll always care for you.
They'll be your companion,
'Til their life ends.
And when their day comes
To leave your sight,
They hope you were satisfied with them.
One thing that's always true,
Their love for you was always there.
And every day,
It was always true,
They had a special place
In their heart
Just for you.
